Founder and Director of Performance

Joshua Ortegon

Joshua graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science.  After graduation, Joshua interned at the world renowned IMG Academies to further his practical application in the field of strength and conditioning.

As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Joshua has worked with all populations from professional athletes to general fitness enthusiast in the area of strength and conditioning, nutritional guidance and performance. As a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach, Josh has worked with all populations in the area of weight loss, body composition changes and muscle building.

Josh was the co-founder of Athlete's Arena Sports Performance and CrossFit Athlete’s Arena in Irmo, SC for 10 years. In 2016 Josh founded PHNM Brand Fitness & Nutrition and works as the Director of Performance for their online coaching and nutritional consulting business.

 

Chief Science Officer Mike Wines

Mike graduated from the University of South Carolina with his Bachelors in Exercise Science and Human Performance. He then went on to complete his Masters in Exercise Physiology and Sport Performance at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) while working on-site at the Olympic training facility.

Throughout his career, he has worked with multiple collegiate and professional organizations including EXOS (formerly Athlete’s Performance), ETSU OTS, and the University of South Carolina in which he had the opportunity to assist with player development of the 2010 and 2011 World Series championship teams.

Mike is currently continuing his education with further academic and professional work in the realms of integrative medicine and sleep science. Feel free to connect with him on Facebook or Instagram (@mike.wines).

 

Coach Gray Gaines

My name is Gray Gaines! Originally from Greenville, SC, I moved down to Columbia to go to the University of South Carolina.  During my years there I studied a variety of classes that took me all around the world.  I graduated with a degree in International Studies and a minor in Sport and Entertainment.

From a young age, I always knew I wanted to make the world a better place — whether it was saving the sharks, fighting poverty and hunger, or enriching lives through sport & music. How about three dream jobs?!  I never knew my life would lead to helping people through fitness. In 2019, I made a serious commitment and got my Personal Training certification and it was into the real world I went. I am currently working towards my strength and conditioning certification, as well as my nutrition certification. I truly love to learn. My philosophy in training is this:  “if I can help you to learn be confident in your strength and to love you, I’ve done my job.”

I teach clients that appearance goals are never the only goal. I want to teach you the appreciation of movement, appreciation of foods that make you feel good, and appreciation of your own capabilities. Happy is the route. Happy is always HEALTHY.

 

Coach Tabatha Baker

Tabatha graduated with honors from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Health & Wellness.  She is a veteran of the United States Air Force and has worked in a variety of settings within our healthcare systems offering her clinical experience many do not have. She not only specializes in all components of wellness (mental, emotional, spiritual and physical) but also in health behavior, nutrition, fitness, natural supplementation and disease prevention. She describes wellness “as being more than just disease-free, it is an active and dynamic process of personal growth & change.”

Throughout her 20 plus year career in healthcare, she has helped many achieve their life & health goals through nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle management by supporting, educating, and empowering them to find and/or redefine their health. Much of her experience has been in clinical nutrition and aging well across the life span. She has worked closely with physicians to assist patients with such conditions as type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, and PCOS.

In January 2020, Tabatha brought her passion and experience with her to PHNM Brand Fitness & Nutrition. She loves helping others and believes that a good health coach should walk beside their client during their journey, not in front of them.

Lastly, Tabatha has returned to Purdue University to obtain her Master of Science in Health Education. She also holds many professional certifications from organizations such as Precision Nutrition, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Clinical Health Coach.

 

Coach Lizzy Troutman

Lizzy Troutman is a seasoned fitness professional with over 20 years experience training, teaching and mentoring others in health and wellness.  Fresh out of high school, Lizzy had a zest for learning all things fitness and began getting certified in everything she could while attending the University of South Carolina. 

After studying Psychology at USC and accumulating several training certifications including ACE and AFFA, Lizzy moved to Greenville, SC where she began managing staff, training clients, and teaching group fitness classes at Sportsclub Greenville. While working in Greenville, Lizzy was picked to be a national trainer and presenter for the global group fitness company Les Mills.  For 10 years, Lizzy traveled the country training group fitness instructors, presenting master classes and lectures, and providing CEUs for ACE and AFFA.

In 2015, Lizzy shifted her role in the fitness industry by joining a boutique fitness franchise in Columbia, SC where she brought her expertise to teaching classes, managing staff and training instructors for 5 years. 

During the whirlwind of 2020, Lizzy decided to get back home in the gym with a full load of personal training clients.  Her clients describe her coaching as encouraging, knowledgeable, individualized, and always positive.  Lizzy motivates with her inclusive, warm energy and thoughtful yet challenging programming in the gym and in her classes.  She is currently working towards renewing her NASM PT certification and Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification.

 

Coach Sara Doyle

Born and raised in Lancaster South Carolina. Sara was athletically inclined in her early years participating in competitive high school cheerleading for four years. Sara began her secondary education at University of South Carolina Lancaster, and then transferred to Midlands Technical college pursuing her dreams of helping others through physical fitness as a physical therapy assistant. Sara’s dreams grew as she continued her education and decided to transfer to USC-Columbia to pursue her Bachelors in Exercise Science. Since then, she has spent over 200 hours in observational settings in in/outpatient settings with multiple physical therapy clinics.

In August 2017 Sara earned her American Counsel of Exercise (ACE) certification in Personal Training and accepted a position with Anytime Fitness. Sara graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2018 with her Bachelors in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. Always pursuing education and experience, Sara earned her ACE certification in Sports and Fitness Nutrition in 2019. As a certified personal trainer, Sara has always valued the personal growth and accomplishments of her clients. In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her husband and pups as well as working up a good sweat in the gym or outside.
